Pro wrestling is wonderfully ridiculous. It’s a form of entertainment where Olympic gold medallists can go one-on-one with 7-foot zombies with magic powers. In a world full of so many extravagant characters, it makes sense that some of them can’t possibly be from actual places that exist in the real world. Sometimes pro wrestling goes so far into kayfabe that they need to invent places for their characters to be from……or sometimes wrestlers just like to use where they’re billed from to make cool pop culture references. Whatever the reason behind it though, I’m going to rank them – here are the Top 10 Fictional Locations in Wrestling.
Outside of WWE, Kenny Omega is the most talked about wrestler in the world today. His time leading Bullet Club shot him into a global spotlight, but it’s not just his cool black and white merch or iconic logo that give people reason to talk – he also just happens to be one of the best wrestlers of his generation. Every time he steps into a ring, Omega puts on an incredible show, and on certain occasions, makes history with the quality of his matches.
DDT Pro Wrestling is known for being possibly the most ridiculous promotion in the wrestling world. We’ve all seen the clips and GIFs, we’ve all sat in awe at how incredibly bizarre the whole thing is – but have you ever bothered to really look into it? Have you ever tried watching a full match? A full event? A match that doesn’t involve fireworks or animals or inflatable dolls? Well, if not, you owe it to yourself to check out their streaming service – DDT Universe. But why should you sign up? How do you even sign up in the first place? How easy is it to use? Where do you go to see Joey Ryan use his penis on people? Don’t you worry! All of those questions and more will be answered in my exploration of A Dramatically Crazy Universe: A Matchguide and Tips for DDT Pro Wrestling’s Streaming Service.
Wrestle Kingdom – the perfect place to start your New Japan journey. That’s how it started for me. After hearing about the hype surrounding Bullet Club back in 2014, I decided I needed to start watching some NJPW, and Wrestle Kingdom in 2015 was the perfect place to start. Three years on, I am completely hooked to what I believe to be the best quality wrestling in the world.
As somebody that only got into New Japan a few years ago and believes it to be the best promotion in the world today, I adore helping curious fans get into NJPW in any way that I can. Previously, I wrote a Beginner’s Guide to New Japan, which seemed to help a lot of people begin their viewing experience with the company, but as I know a lot of you will be tuning in for the first time on January 4th, I thought I would put together a quick of bullet point guide taking you through all of the vital information you need to know about how to watch the big event, what time it’s on, how to get around streaming issues, what to watch before and after Wrestle Kingdom, and a brief look through the match card and how each bout has come about. But let’s start things off with the most important part.
2017 has almost come to an end. In my opinion, this has been one of, if not the best year for pro wrestling that I’ve ever been witness to, especially when it comes to match quality. Full of amazing moments, history-making matches, and an endless amount of fantastic content for any type of fan to enjoy around the world, wrestling in 2017 has truly been a gift to us all. But with a year so packed full of scale-breaking MOTY candidates, shocking moments, history-making events, and breakout performances, how am I supposed to whittle down an impressive selection of nominees into the best of the best?! Well, after twelve months of deciding, I am proud to present the End of Year Hairy Awards – a celebration of the greatest wrestlers, matches, performances, etc in the world of wrestling in 2017. As it has been such a fantastic year, I’m keeping these awards as positive as I can, so look elsewhere for your negativity (but please stay on my website, I beg of you). With that being said, let’s take a look at the (not so) prestigious winners.

But with a year so packed full of scale-breaking MOTY candidates, how on Earth could we whittle so many great bouts down to just the best of the best? There have been certain wrestlers this year that could fill a regular year’s MOTY list with their own matches alone, that’s how good the standard of pro wrestling is right now. An honourable mention in this list could have been a top five match ten years ago. We are experiencing a golden age when it comes to quality pro wrestling, and if you don’t believe me, just take a look at the unbelievable selection of matches we’ve been treated to in the last twelve months. Here is part one of my Top 20 Matches of the Year: 2017.

As brilliant as the last twelve months have been though, it looks like we are in for another memorable year in the wonderful and weird world of pro wrestling. Although it’s impossible to know exactly what will happen from January to December next year, there are plenty of things I’m already dying to witness in 2018. But what am I most excited to see happen from January 1st to December 31st, and what you should be excited for also? Well, let me tell you.
